Phonetics and Pronunciation Course: Master the French Accent and Be Understood

Don't let your pronunciation be an obstacle anymore. Communicate clearly and confidently.

Tired of having to repeat the same sentence three times?

There is nothing more frustrating than constructing a grammatically perfect sentence, only to have your conversation partner respond: "Sorry? Can you repeat that?" While having an accent is charming and part of your identity. But poor pronunciation can block communication or harm your professional credibility. This course is for you if:

  • You often hesitate over the pronunciation of minimal pairs (like "dessus" and "dessous" or nasal vowels) that can change the meaning of your sentences.
  • Reading rules, such as liaisons or silent letters, seem vague to you.
  • You feel that your intonation is not natural, making your speech a bit "choppy".
  • You would simply like to speak with more ease, without feeling like you have to force your articulation.

More than a course, it's "mouth gymnastics"

Phonetics is physical. To produce French sounds, you need to use muscles in your mouth and face that you do not use in your native language.

My practical 3-step approach:

  • 1. Articulation (The Position): I will show you exactly where to place your tongue, how to round your lips, and how to open your mouth to produce the right sound.
  • 2. Rhythm and Intonation (The Music): French has a specific melody. We work on the stress of syllables and the flow of sentences so that you no longer speak like a robot.
  • 3. Active Listening: We educate your ear to hear the subtle nuances that you previously did not perceive.

The Polyglot Advantage: I understand the origin of your accent

This is where my experience makes a difference. I don't just say "Repeat after me". I compare French to your native language to help you have that "Aha!" moment.

  • For English speakers: We will work on "smoothing out" the rhythm (French is syllabic, not stress-timed like English) and mastering the famous French "R" without choking.
  • For Spanish speakers: We will focus on the distinction between 'B' and 'V', the 'Z' (the hard 's' sound) and nasal vowels that do not exist in Spanish.
